Flash floods wreak havoc in KL, thousands stranded

Flash floods wreak havoc in KL, thousands stranded KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 —Thousands of people were left trapped and stranded either in buildings, bus stations or light rail transit stations in the capital city following flash floods after a heavy downpour since 3pm. Several major roads were inundated with floodwaters of between one and two metres while hundreds of cars were flooded up to the roof.
At the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), some 1,000 people and staff at the building were trapped in the darkness following a power outage while those who did manage to find their way out had to stay put in the building as the roads around the area were flooded.
Civil Defence officer in charge of operations, Second Lt Shahrul Kamar Mohd Johari, said the unusually heavy rain caused water from the nearby Klang River to overflow onto the surrounding areas and roads. “The floods started at 6pm and we received calls an hour later that about 1,000 people were unable to make their way out of PWTC because of the dark condition following the power outage,” he told Bernama when contacted.
He said that efforts were underway to reach those trapped in the building but said that it would be a daunting task because of the very low visibility. “We are trying to move in and get all those trapped out safely,” he said. Meanwhile several main roads in the city such as the Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Rahmat, Jalan Sentul, Jalan Kasipillay and Jalan Duta were inundated with floodwater, causing massive traffic jams. A check by Bernama around Jalan Ipoh showed that several rows of shops and hundreds of cars were flooded when the water at the Sungai Batu overflowed.
Among the buildings affected were the Sentul Fire and Rescue Station, Jalan Ipoh Mother and Child Clinic, Jalan Ipoh Health Clinic as well as the MIC building. Along Jalan Putra, dozens of cars were flooded up to the roof. Earlier today, in Kuala Terengganu, about 500 students were trapped when three schools in Setiu and Besut were flooded after the morning session began today due to heavy rain the night before. Jalan Kampung Chalok and Kampung Lubuk Panjang in Setiu were under water causing about 400 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Chalok and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Chalok to be unable to go home after school ended at noon.
Waters from Sungai Tok Dor and Sungai Renek in Besut flooded SK Bukit Jerok up to 0.5m causing students to be moved to higher floors. About 100 students were allowed to go home when it was safe after being trapped since 8am.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Kampung Chalok Kedai Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahman, said about 400 students and teachers of SK Chalok and SMK Chalok had to be transported by lorries of the Setiu district council to their homes. A spokesman of the state education department said if the situation persisted students and teachers affected would be let off school. — Bernama

CHINA CHAIR RAPE BOY ANUS
Monday, February 23, 2009
6
A 14-years old boy in China was killed by his own MADE IN CHINA chair. The chair exploded, sending chunks of metal into his rectum. The bleeding is the cause that killed him.
The alleged explosion came from the gas cylinder that was in the base of the chair, the part that allowed the user to adjust the seat up and down. The canister gets compressed when you sit on it, but it can actually create enough energy to make the seat cushion explode.
So, you office workers better be careful with those office chairs which are made in china. Better be safe by sitting on the from being rape by a CHINA chair

Finally,
Hong Kong singer and actor Edison Chen finally returned to Hong Kong secretly and faced the HK public for the first time by holding a press conference. Edison apologized in English to the women involved in the naughty photo sex scandal surrounding him, and to all of Hong Kong, where the public is outraged. Edison Chen said on Thursday he would step away from the Hong Kong entertainment industry to “heal himself”, in his first public appearance since the sex scandal broke.
So, what you all think?

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, founder and honorary life president of Genting Group, passed away at 11.20am Tuesday at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre.
The tycoon, who turned 90 in April this year, was renowned for his vision in transforming Genting Highlands from an unexplored hilltop to one of the world's most successful casino resorts.
The fifth child in a family of seven children, Lim migrated from China's Fujian province in 1937 at the age of 19 with only a small suitcase and US$175.
The idea of a hill resort was chanced upon by Lim amidst the crisp air of Cameron Highlands in 1964. Lim was then working on a hydro-electric power project at the popular hill resort, patronised mostly by British colonials seeking cool refuge from the tropical heat, when he foresaw a prosperous Malaysia of the future desiring a cool mountain holiday resort within the reach of all Malaysians.
To date, Genting Highlands Resort has five hotels and two apartment blocks at the hilltop and Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort.
The company, founded in 1965, has since expanded and diversified from its initial hotel and resort activities to plantations, properties, paper manufacturing, power generation, oil and gas, electronic commerce and information technology development under Genting Group.
According to Forbes Asia, the Genting Group founder was third richest in the country with a net worth of US$4.3bil (RM14.6bil).
Lim is survived by wife Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua, and their six children and 19 grandchildren.

How could things like this happen?
Read in a forum, and a dude was saying this out.
I would like to share something with you all. It wasnt an accident. My ex-gf was there. This is how the story goes. She went shopping that day with her friends, they went around to shop and finally, they end up to this stall at the forth floor. They went to buy something from the stall, and since my ex-gf is a regular customer, the store owner knows her.
Everything was ok back then, the women who fell, were chatting with my ex-gf. Things like, long time no see, u did ur hair very nice, become more pretty liao, etc...If not mistaken, her husband was there too, after a while, she said, she gotta go. no one knows at that time, maybe she want to go to washroom? or walk walk, so no one cares. She was happy that time, and wasnt into any stress or etc. When she left, she walk to the opposite of the stall, climb over the railing and sits there. I wasnt sure that she is answering a call or making a call back then, but after she sits on the railing, and pick up the phone, and not long, she fell just like that.
It claims that it was recorded by the cctv there. She climb over the railing herself, and fell.Let us try to analyze this case.
Do it the CSI way.
The facts
- Shes age 32
- Mother with kids
- Not into any stress or arguement, she was happy
- No financial issue
1) I'm sure of her age 32, she should have aware of the danger sitting on the railing.
2) There is no sense of trying to commit suicide as I see this case.
3) There were rumours saying its something to do with spirits/ something dirty.
4) Climb over the railing and sits there requires some effort, its not like when u walk around the shopping center and see a bench and sit, which is something easy.
5) Why she needs to climb over the railing and sits there just to answer a call ?
- When I'm at the top floor, I grab the railing and see below, also my leg start to shake, dont mention climbing over.
6) Why the newspaper said she fell backwards instead she was facing the stage and fell forward?7) Is it something to do with the phone / call ?
8) Is it possible that someone or something makes this happened?
9) Some said spirits, but could it be possible be a phone hypnotize?
10) Notice that ppl who works in SG usually wear/dress nicely, if shes a women, she could have done the same, I'm not sure but it could be possibly be shes wearing high hills like any other women.
So, what do you guys think?

ROME - Luciano Pavarotti, whose vibrant high C's and ebullient showmanship made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71.
His manager, Terri Robson, told the AP in an e-mailed statement that Pavarotti died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5 a.m. local time. Pavarotti had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and underwent further treatment in August.
"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness," the statement said.

Paris Hilton loses Inheritance

PARTY princess Paris Hilton is $60 million out of pocket after her billionaire grandfather - appalled by her jail term for drink-driving offences - axed her inheritance.
Family patriarch Barron Hilton was already embarrassed by his granddaughter's wild behaviour - notably when her home sex video was leaked on the internet.
But the 79-year-old considered her 23-day sentence last month the last straw.
"He was, and is, extremely embarrassed by how the Hilton name has been sullied by Paris," says Jerry Oppenheimer, who wrote a biography of the clan called House Of Hilton.
"He now doesn't want to leave unearned wealth to his family."
Hilton senior, the only member of the family left with a sizeable stake in the huge hotel chain, has let it be known that he intends to donate to charity the $2.4bn he will gain from this month's sale of the company to private equity firm Blackstone.
The money will go to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the charity set up in the name of the founder of the family business.
Is this true?
